About Us
This page will inform you about Aldinga Airport, the Airshow Host – Aldinga Aviation Pty Ltd: the Aldinga AeroClub and the Airshow Organising Committee. Plus – What you can expect at the Aldinga Airshow on Sunday 7th April 2024!
Aldinga Airport
Aldinga Airfield was established in 1976 by a small group of keen aviators, who were in the main Private Pilots. The company then underwent various stages of development at the Aldinga Airfield with strong support from many aviator and non-aviator investors.
Today Aldinga Airfield, located in the heart of the McLaren Vale Wine region, boasts a first-class private airport facility with some 50 privately and company-owned hangars with sealed taxiways and green lawns. The Aldinga Airfield is a gateway to other areas of South Australia including Kangaroo Island and the Eyre Peninsula. Aldinga Airfield is located outside controlled airspace making it easy for VFR pilots to fly in and visit our special region.
The company prides itself on presentation and innovation with three stormwater retention dams for the total recycling of all stormwater on the Aldinga Airfield assisting in making Aldinga Airfield a beautiful place to visit.
Aldinga Aviation welcomes all aviators to visit the Aldinga Airfield at any time and enjoy the facilities that we offer. These facilities include Avgas, overnight Aircraft Parking, hangarage a 7-day Cafe at the Adelaide Biplanes flight office and soon-to-be-built large clubrooms and decking for visitors to enjoy.
Aldinga Airfield is used by CFS fire support aircraft, the MAC rescue helicopters for training & several Angel Flight aircraft are based at the airfield.

What to expect at the Airshow
The Aldinga Airshow is the first Airshow held at the Airfield since 1980. Countless hours of preparation have gone into making this an affordable and memorable event. The committee has worked tirelessly to secure some very generous sponsorship which without the Airshow would not be possible. See our list of sponsors HERE
It is because of sponsorship that has allowed the committee to secure Matt Hall and Emma McDonald from Matt Hall Racing Pty Ltd. These aviators put on a breathtaking display of extreme aerobatics normally reserved for much larger Airshows such as Pacific Airshow, Gold Coast.
Along with Matt Hall Racing, we have a huge lineup of champion aerobatic pilots such as Chris Sperou and a large contingent of vintage aircraft formations.
A standout attraction will be Jim Whalley in his WW2 CAC Boomerang.
The air display will be virtually non-stop from 1030am until 4.00 pm.
If the air display is not enough, we are providing the opportunity for attendees to take paid helicopter flights to see the local area from above. Helicopters will operate continuously throughout the airshow.
For those who prefer to have their feet firmly on the ground we have secured 18 static displays to date, 50 market stalls and an abundance of food and drink stalls. There will also be a dedicated licenced area.
Because we want the airshow to be family-friendly, we have not forgotten the children with lots of free activities. There will be a jumping castle, a travelling farm, clowns, and other activities so much so the entire family will be sure to have the absolute best day out.
The airshow will be educational as well with many pilots available to talk to spectators about aircraft and what it takes to be a pilot.
The Flying Kickstart Program
Thanks to the generously of three local flying schools, the committee is very pleased to be able to offer an opportunity to three young people to commence their flying training with funding of up to $5000.00 each to go toward their flying lessons. This is a significant amount of money that will well and truly kickstart their flying career. Applications are now open so don’t miss out! Winners will be announced at the Airshow. Check it out HERE
Tickets
We recognise that many families are struggling financially so we have gone to great lengths to provide an affordable family event. The low price of tickets is only possible based on an estimate of the number of tickets sold. This is a risk for the committee so we encourage as many people as possible to purchase a ticket early.
